Background info R.E.N.'s adventures into the world of electronic dance music started by hearing the sound of Quadrophonia (Lucien Foort being one of the producers of) back in 1990.
After buying some mix CD's, R.E.N. soon realized he wanted to be in control of the music himself, so he put his mind on starting DJing.

After a period of playing various kinds of electronic music, being mostly progressive tunes from the UK, and tech-trance stuff from Germany, he played UK nu-nrg/hardhouse for a while, inspired by the well know hardhouse DJ Tom Harding (who was totally playing mad DJ sets back then in de Melkweg, Amsterdam).
After a DJ stop of quite some time, he picked up playing records again in the same time his friend DJ Pseudonym started out on the decks, hearing the great tech-house/progressive stuff he brought home from the stores.
Already knowing he really digged tunes with a breakbeat, he soon after discovered the world of nu-skool breaks, which was already a huge thing for a while in the UK.
He had to get use to the bass-heavyness of this genre but got the hang of it quite soon.

Nowadays (nu-skool) breakbeat forms a great deal of R.E.N.'s wax arsenal, but he also likes to vary with other genres like techno and tech-house. 'Anything goes, as long as it's wicked or funky.'
